Circle J: Year of the Goat

July 26, 2015

Its been a while since we’ve heard anything new from Holland’s Circle J, so its great to get something new in the form of the seven track, Year of the Goat, mini-album. Again, no surprises here just good ol’ Celtic-punk with a European flair. Hopefully, Year of the Goat, helps Circle J expand their profile outside the low countries as they are a band that deserve to be heard. Fans of…….(honestly, do i really need to do the list?)…..should check this out.

Circle J: Diggers

July 21, 2012

Digger’s is the new 5 track EP from one of my favorite bands of the last few years – Circle J from the Netherlands. If you haven’t had the pleasure then these lads can be best described as holding the musical middle ground somewhere between (old) Flogging Molly and Norway’s Greenland Whalefishers and they hold that ground very, very well. No surprises, no frills just straight ahead rowdy Celtic’punk’n’roll and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Highlight (amongst many)? The Legend of Robert Morgan.

Circle J: Weekend Warriors

May 11, 2010

I’ve just been punched hard in the face by Circle J. Sorry guys. I had no idea how good you are. I remember getting the last Cd, “Fat Mans Chest”, a couple of years back and unfortunately it ended up in the I’ll get to that later pile where it still languishs. Sorry again. “Weekend Warriors” showed up a little bit ago and stuck for a track to use on the Flatfoot 56 podcast I gave WW a spin, cos, well it was sitting in a pile of CDs in front of me. With in 30 seconds 1875 had flogged me into submission and within 1 spin of the CD I was totally blown away as to just how good these guys are – think Flogging Molly covering Dropkick Muphys. Easily the find of the year (though I wish I had found them in 2007 not 2010)……now to dig out “Fat Mans Chest and maybe a featured podcast….guys can you forgive me?
